A collection of works by "APIAN," a DIY humanities research project led by artist Aladin Borioli.

Since the modern bee hive was developed in 1852, there has been no major change in the structure of hives up to the present day. Standardized box hives brought stability to beekeeping, but at the same time distanced them from the structural diversity cultivated over 4,400 years. This little book traces the homogenized pre-modern history of beekeeping to 2400 BC. Readers can get a glimpse of the history of small architecture developed for non-human creatures through 375 photographs and illustrations.
