(Signed) rock-paper-roots by Géraldine Jeanjean
A collection of works by Dutch photographer Geraldine Janjan.
The small village of Aumont in eastern France, where Jean Jean's grandmother lives, is a place filled with her childhood memories and has been the subject of her work over the years. For her, her photographs are testimony to fading past events and reaffirmation of places that have become almost imaginary. Looking back at photos of herself, Janjan noticed similarities between her own children and her grandmother. While her children discover reality, her grandmother suffers memory loss and loses touch with her reality. Through a theatrical project set in an entire village, a rock-paper-scissors-like exploration of reality unfolded.
