Providencia by Daniel Reuter
A collection of works by German photographer Daniel Reuter.
This book is a collection of photographs taken between 2016 and 2020 in the Providencia region near Santiago de Chile. "Providencia" means God's intervention in the universe in the Bible, a force beyond human control. Photographed in this place, the book depicts architectural details, reflections in glass, makeshift structures, barricades that block the view, and fragmented figures. In this work, Reuter attempts to express the "present," an elusive moment between a complicated past and an uncertain future, and the range and disjointedness of the photographs in this book bring out this feeling skillfully. The book also includes a new text by Chilean poet and novelist Alejandro Zambra.
