Lunario, 1968-1999 by Guido Guidi

MACK

A collection of works by Italian photographer Guido Guidi.

Taking its name from the traditional American calendar book, the Old Farmer's Almanac, this volume is a compilation of projects completed over several decades, bringing together several series on the Moon. These early works, made in the late 1960s and early 1970s, are based on themes of distortion, experimentation and illusion, which Guidi developed further after acquiring a fisheye lens. Recurring images include female faces, the interplay between light and shadow, a child's playing ball, and the physical silhouette of the Moon. In the 1980s, color photography replaced the blank landscapes, such as the surface of the moon. This series culminated in the partial solar eclipse of August 11, 1999.

(Excerpt from distributor's commentary)

A collection of experimental and poetic large-format photographs in which the characteristics of a fish-eye lens are likened to the moon.
