Exosphere by Batia Suter

An artist book by Swiss/Netherlands-based artist Batia Suter.

Published to accompany Suter's exhibition, "Exosphere," held at CAGE Gallery in Tokyo from August 25 to October 29, 2023, this book juxtaposes images of armour with cushioning materials used for transporting fruits, vegetables, and headphones. Although Suter is known for her frequent use of archival photographs and clippings, in this work she turns her attention to materials familiar to contemporary audiences, making her ongoing exploration of loosening the fixed relationships between image and meaning feel even more immediate and engaging.

The exhibition was realised through the initiative of Kanazawa-based publisher Keijiban and co-published with the Netherlands-based Roma Publications.
