RVB Books

A multiple piece by French visual artist Noémie Goudal, using a stereoscopic viewer to transform photographic landscapes into three-dimensional images.

Study On Perspective II is a multiple by French visual artist Noémie Goudal.

The work uses a 3D viewer based on the simple lenticular stereoscopic technology developed in the nineteenth century. Two slightly different images, one seen by each eye, are combined by the brain and perceived as a single three-dimensional image. By requiring the viewer to physically look into the device, Goudal encourages a more active encounter with the work.

Goudal extends this traditional technique by digitally isolating and adjusting specific elements within the images, manipulating the perceived depth of the photographs and further complicating the relationship between photographic image and spatial illusion.
