(Mint) May The Circle Remain Unbroken by Corinne Day
A collection of works by British photographer Corinne Day.
Day began his career as a photographer in the early 1990s. In a fashion world where glamorous and sexy women were the norm at the time, Day stuck to a real documentary style that showed the subjects as they were. He helped make then-unknown Kate Moss a star, and had a huge influence on the way fashion photography was done afterwards.
This book is the first collection of her work since her death in 2010, and was created by her husband, filmmaker Mark Sergy, owner of GIMPEL FILS GALLERY, Jackie Halliday, and publisher MOCo-edited by Aaron Morrell of "REL" and his longtime friend and muse Tara Hill, this book was published after three years of planning. In addition to his early works, which are being shown for the first time, it mainly features works from 1987 to 1996, the period when he made his breakthrough as a photographer. Many of the works are snapshots of friends taken on a daily basis at the artist's flat in Soho, London, depicting the "circle of friendship that will never be broken" as the title suggests.
The title is taken from the name of a song by The 13th Floor Elevators, a band Day was a fan of, and the typography was created by Pablo Ferro, known for his title designs for A Clockwork Orange and Dr. Strangelove.
