(Signed) Automat by Michaël Borremans

A collection of works by Belgian artist Michaël Borremans.

The book was published in conjunction with a solo exhibition at the Hannover art gallery Kestner-Gesellschaft in 2009. Borremans' videos, paintings and drawings overwhelm the viewer with their cadence, precision and swirling force. The works contain timeless images of the underlying and external pressures that inevitably accompany human existence. They also deliberately insert errors and whims into their perfectly constructed stylistic compositions, thus distorting accepted methods of interpretation and meaning.
