Photography in contemporary art: Focusing on art from the 1970s
Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name held at the Tokyo National Art Museum in 1983.
This exhibition focuses on artists who have used photography to create works since the 1950s, and has been curated to feature 33 artists from the UK, USA, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan.
Of particular note is the fact that one of the three chapters is devoted to 17 Japanese artists, allowing readers to see the photographic works of artists who are rarely discussed in the context of photography. This is a must-read book, containing many works that are reminiscent of contemporary photographic expression.
