Mémoires 1995 by Seiichi Furuya
This is a collection of works published in conjunction with Furuya's solo exhibition held at the Winterthur Photography Museum in Switzerland from April 1 to May 6, 1995.
This second book, "Mémoires," includes the photographs from the previous work, as well as photographs of flowers taken in East Berlin and Dresden, a series of portraits of refugees from the Bosnian War, and a portrait of his grown-up son, Mitsuaki, reorganized into a single work without any text or chapters. The first book, "Mémoires 1978-1988," gave the impression of a straightforward personal photographic story, but this book strongly reflects the characteristic of this series, in which the photographer persistently enters into dialogue with the photographs and reorganizes them to create new works. "When, where, what, why" - these unanswered questions are deepened even further by this book.
