KOCHETOV by Victor and Sergey Kochetov
A collection of works by Ukrainian photographer Viktra Kochetov and her son Serhiyah Kochetov.
A member of the first generation of the Kharkiv School, educated in music and engineering, Viktra Kochetov has been a professional photographer since 1968, working in film and photography institutes, at the Kharkiv House of Amateur Artists, at the Southern Railway and at various newspapers. Most of his work was produced together with his son Serhiya, who supported him since his teenage years. The pair pushed the tradition of ruriki, popular among the Kharkiv School, to its aesthetic limits, creating an ironic style of looking at the world around them. This book, their first publication, presents the pair's photographic work produced between 1970 and 2000.
First edition limited to 500 copies.
*Ruriki | In the postwar Soviet Union, there was a business of coloring photographs. Boris Mikhailov, a Ukrainian photographer who became the origin of the Kharkiv School, reinterpreted this tradition and created the "Ruriki" series.
