アラマメ by mame & Nobuyoshi Araki
A collection of works by fashion brand "mame" and photographer Nobuyoshi Araki.
This book was created by mame designer Maiko Kurogouchi when she wanted to express the intentions of the brand more strongly in a way that was different from the lookbooks she releases each season. It was realized when I met Nobuyoshi Araki's work "Arakiri", which was cut and glued together to make a single work. It uses an accordion-style binding, with photographs printed on both the front and back. The bright red cross cover seems to reflect the world view and heat of both, and at the same time plays a role in tightening the whole work.
“The beauty and sex appeal I felt when I actually saw Mr. Araki’s work was in common with what I wanted to express through mame. The association between ambiguous memories was partly connected to my own clothes making.Just as you can perceive things only by fixing the image in a photograph, you can only perceive clothes when you actually wear them. Araki took a picture of a woman wearing mame, and then manually pasted the resulting positive film onto another positive film. I think it's condensed."- Maiko Kurogouchi
