The Wedding by Boris Mikhailov

Mörel Books

A collection of works by Ukrainian photographer Boris Mikhailov.

Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 1938, Mikhailov studied electrical engineering at a technical university and worked as an engineer. He began self-taught photography in the 1960s and is now recognized as one of the most important photographers of everyday life in post-Soviet society. Although Mikhailov coldly and ruthlessly portrays poverty and homeless people living on the fringes of Russia's new economic system without social support or care, in this series the pseudo-wedding of two homeless people is set in the world around them. was performed on the stage and the situation was filmed. In Mikhailov's photographs, comic expressions like this, in which he forms complicity with his subjects, are often used, and the absurdity of this tragic life is further emphasized by its abysmal brightness.

A binding that imitates a classic wedding album.
