This is Furuya Seiichi's memorable first collection of works, published in 1981.

At the end of April 1980, Furuya accompanied Daido Moriyama, who was visiting Graz for a three-week solo exhibition at Forum Stadtpark, and the two of them drove to Amsterdam. The city, where young people from all over the world gather in search of freedom and adventure, immediately stirred, captured, and overwhelmed him. From June, Furuya worked part-time as a waiter at a high-end Japanese restaurant for three months, taking photos in his free time and developing the photos in a small attic above the restaurant. At first, Furuya was unable to grasp the true nature of the sensations that the city of Amsterdam brought to him, and blindly continued to shoot, entrusting everything to the camera as if in a kind of trance. "For a while I couldn't find the answer, but I followed the camera's lead. After developing the first few photos, I was able to identify the cause of my frustration. From then on, instead of entrusting myself to the camera, I started to take photos consciously." Furuya says this in the text included in this book.

The restaurant where Furuya worked, Toga, closed down when he retired, and he returned to Graz and immediately began work on this book.
