An artist book by Japanese photographer Kono Yukito.

Until now, Kono has focused on the post-shooting editing process and the materiality of the photographic medium itself, rather than on the act of shooting itself, but in this work he has for the first time created a work that centers around his own act of shooting, i.e. his physicality.

"In recent years, the social situation surrounding us has been changing at an accelerating rate. Photography is one of the areas in which its existence has changed the most noticeably. More photographs than ever before are taken all over the world, and as images are shared every second, they have transcended their original context and become omnipresent everywhere. It is no longer necessary to go out of our way to admit that we live in a world of images. So what is the role of the photographer in the modern age? Naturally, the meaning and role of the word must be reconsidered. Have we not become so fascinated by the realm of images that we have unconsciously neglected what is happening right in front of our eyes? In this work, Kono has taken a complete departure from his previous approach, reinterpreting photography as the act of staring at the scenery in front of us, and photographs as the result/trace that remains, and he took photographs every day in a straightforward manner that could be called old-fashioned. These photographs were printed and bound directly at home and compiled into an artist's book."
