Camera Austria: Laboratory for Photography and Theory

Spector Books

Published in conjunction with ``Camera Austria. Collection of works.

The photography magazine Camera Austria International, which was first published in 1980, has endeavored to research and disseminate photography not only in Austria but also internationally through numerous exhibitions and symposiums. Seiichi Furuya, who moved to Graz, Austria in 1975, was one of the founders of this organization, and has held large-scale solo exhibitions of Daido Moriyama, Shomei Tomatsu, and Nobuyoshi Araki in Europe, and also held exhibitions by European photographers. He made a great contribution as a bridge between the two countries by holding a meeting in Japan and introducing its uniqueness. This book focuses on the views of the artists who have been involved in exhibitions and contributions at "Camera Austria", and adds commentary on the artistic context and changes that have influenced this organization, unraveling its history. .
